Friday Find: How Do Costco's Pre-Cooked Ribs Stack Up?
Jeremy Yoder of Mad Scientist BBQ prepares Costco's pre-cooked ribs and compares them to the real thing.
Lots of folks who cook barbecue in their backyards love Costco. The beloved warehouse store often has great deals on raw brisket, chicken, burgers, and even lamb. That said, what if you want to be lazy for a day and pick up some BBQ that is already cooked and only needs time in the oven?
Jeremy Yoder of Mad Scientist BBQ visited Costco recently and bought a package of pre-cooked baby back ribs under the Big Shoulders Smokehouse brand. These ribs claim to be hickory smoked and have a sweet and smoky BBQ sauce. Yoder cooks these up in the oven and compares them to 5-hour-smoked ribs he made himself.
The big questions are: How good are the Costco ribs? (Spoiler: Pretty good!) Is it still worth cooking your own? (Absolutely.)
