Bryan Furman Is Set to Reclaim His BBQ Throne
Georgia pitmaster Bryan Furman reveals his upcoming plans in BBQ, including his new restaurant in Atlanta.
This week’s guest article is written by Michael “Chigger” Willard, host of The Low & Slow Barbecue Show podcast and blog, which spotlights stories and recipes from pitmasters in the Carolinas. Today, he reveals the latest restaurant plans for Bryan Furman BBQ that the Atlanta-area pitmaster shared during a recent podcast.
Bryan Furman knows the fickle nature of the barbecue fire. In the right conditions, flames and smoke render perfect bites of melt-in-your-mouth barbecue worthy of the world’s greatest accolades. At the same time, fire can turn the sturdiest foundations into smoldering ash and permanently scar unprotected places.
Over the past decade, Furman not only mastered flame at the barbecue pit. He also struggled to contain the effects of uncontrolled combustion. Yet, even when two devastating restaurant fires in 2015 and 2019 threatened to burn down his culinary career, nothing extinguished Furman’s passion for smoking meat and cooking food for people – not judges.
Now, with Bryan Furman BBQ set to open a new brick-and-mortar location in the Atlanta Metro area, the pitmaster once hailed by Bon Appetit as the “new king of Georgia barbecue” is ready to reclaim his throne.
