Friday Find: Such a Thing as Too Much BBQ?
Competitive eater and YouTube star BeardMeatsFood visits a South Carolina BBQ joint for a crazy competitive eating challenge.
Can there be such a thing as too much BBQ? Let’s find out.
YouTube star and competitive eater BeardMeatsFood visited South Carolina recently, and he couldn’t leave the state without attempting a BBQ eating challenge. He stopped in at Smitty's Smokin’ Soul Food in Easley, SC to try their “Soul Feast Challenge.”
The challenge entails eating two huge platters in less than an hour. If you finish, the meal is free and you get a gift card and a hoodie. If you don’t finish, it costs $75. For meats, you’ve got a quarter-rack of ribs, 1/2 pound of brisket, 1/2 pulled pork, 1/2 pound of pulled chicken, and six wings. For sides, you get a “soul roll” and pick four dishes. BeardMeatsFood selected mac and cheese, collard greens, fried okra, and sweet potato casserole, all of which look delicious.
While this sort of challenge (and the way BeardMeatsFood eats) is unconventional, it is nonetheless highly entertaining. Watch below.
