Friday Find: Aaron Franklin and Evan LeRoy Shine at James Beard House

Take a behind-the-scenes look at two of the top Texas BBQ pitmasters as they put together a unique event in NYC.

When two of the most notable pitmasters in the country collaborate for one night, it’s not often you get to see a full behind-the-scenes look at what goes into it. About a year ago, Aaron Franklin of Franklin Barbecue and Evan LeRoy of LeRoy and Lewis (both based in Austin) spent the night working together at the James Beard House in New York City. Some of the event was filmed by LeRoy and Lewis, and it’s a fun video.

The two pitmasters put together a menu that included brisket, ribs, beef cheeks, kale Caesar salad, smoked chocolate mousse, and more. Not only do you get to see some of the techniques Franklin and LeRoy use, but you also get to see them having fun. Which, let’s get real, we all could use some more of these days.
